8-Week Beginner Pottery Class! (Wheel Throwing) Jan 4 - Feb 22

Our beginner's pottery class is specially designed to teach you the basics of wheel throwing. We will cover proper posture, breathing techniques, motor functions, form, and - of course - how to make safe functional pieces (mugs, cups, bowls, plates, etc)! Our goal in this class is to give you the best possible clay education while keeping the vibe and atmosphere fun and inviting. Specifically, centering via coning up and down, opening the form, pulling the walls of the clay pot, trimming your pots (carving and finishing the bottoms), and finally glazing them (the top coat). This 8-week course will meet every Saturday beginning January 4th from 10 am - 1 pm with the final class being held on February 22nd. There is one make-up session per person per class if you are sick or life gets in the way. Please email us if you need to reschedule and we will coordinate with you! :)

4-Week Hybrid Vessels Pottery Clay Class! Feb 1 - 22

First, I'm sure you're wondering, what are some examples of hybrid vessels? On a simplistic level, something like a chip-dip tray or a ring holder could be a hybrid vessel. On a more grandiose level a water fountain (desk size or larger), complex vase, sculpture, etc.

The 4-Week Hybrid Vessels Pottery Clay Class is specially designed to teach you the following (please see agenda for a full breakdown and details of each week):

  • Examples and brainstorming/sketching projects for this course.

  • Crash course on throwing (if you know how to throw - begin)

  • Crash course on hand-building techniques (coil, slab, pinch, sculpt)

  • Utilize all learned skills to finish hybrid forms with help from instructor (+ design)

  • The last class is glazing*

4-Week Intermediate Pottery Clay Class! March 8-29

The 4-Week Intermediate Pottery Clay Class is specially designed to teach you the following (please see agenda for a full breakdown and details of each week):

  • Wheel throwing a bowl, plate, and cup; expanding from here!

  • Refresher & specific goals: push individuals outside their comfort zones / throw-a-thon

  • Trimming / Alterations / Additions

  • The last class is glazing*

    Our goal in this class is to expand your clay education by elevating your ceramic pieces while keeping the vibe and atmosphere fun and inviting. This class is perfect for anyone who has had at least one beginner wheel-throwing pottery class, hand-building class, or some combination of the two and is interested in exploring new possibilities and forms. This 4-week course will meet every Saturday in March (8th - 29th) from 10 am - 1 pm. There is one make-up session per person per class if you are sick or life gets in the way. Our intermediate pottery class is specially designed to teach you how to elevate your wheel-throwing skills while building on your existing foundational skills. We will refresh our beginner skills (posture, breathing, form, and basic shapes) and then get more technical to refine and elevate your pottery! Our goal in this class is to give you the best possible clay education while keeping the vibe and atmosphere fun and inviting. This 7-week course will meet every Saturday beginning November 2nd from 2 - 5 pm with the final class being held on December 21st; there is no class on November 30th. There is usually one make-up session per person per class if you are sick or life gets in the way; since it is the holiday season we will allow up to 2 make-up classes per person for this session.
